Nicolas StockerCH

Nicolas Stocker has built an international reputation as a melodic and highly sensitive drummer. His use of polyrhythms, textural layers and forays into melodic territory make his sound recognisably his own. He is co-leader of the post-genre group KALI Trio and a core member of Nik Bärtsch's Mobile. His many projects and collaborations include Ricardo Villalobos, Areni Agbabian, Maarja Nuut and Witch'n'Monk. Described as a rising star by Downbeat Magazine, Zurich-based Stocker has toured Europe, the USA and Asia, including prestigious venues and festivals such as the Elbphilharmonie, NYC Winterjazzfest, Montreux Jazzfestival and Berghain. In 2018, he released his first solo album on Nik Bärtsch's label Ronin Rhythm Records. Following his deep interest in electronic music, he has developed a beguiling network of rhythmic structures and ethereal sounds, recently expanding his acoustic setup with electronically modified zither, thumb pianos and samples.
