Sauljaljui, a powerful Paiwan tribal singer from Kapanan, has moved from heavy metal to various genres, collaborating with local music groups. She won first prize in the Taiwan Music Composition Contest (Indigenous Language Category) with "Musical Rite of Passage" in 2011, and later composed "Lament of Coloured Cloth" in Australia, winning again in 2014. Her solo albums Tracing the River of Life (2016) and Insides Revealed (2019) have been nominated for awards. Committed to her village, Sauljaljui organises the Kapanan Culture and Music Festival, mentors local teenagers and promotes cultural preservation. As a spokesperson for the Hengchun Folk Music Group, she connects with the community by playing yueqin for the elderly and teaching guitar and yueqin to disadvantaged children. Sauljaljui's dedication reflects her motto: "Finding a way home through music".
