Backman, one of Swedens most reputable reedplayers for 15 years, released his solodebut; the critically acclaimed success “Did You Have a Good Day, David?” in 2018. Thomas and his band followed up the release with concerts at important venues such as Pizza Express in London and Rochester Jazz Festival & Nublu in the US.
In 2021 the sequel “When light is put away” delivered a very special blend of shoegaze, hiphop, bebop, orchestral pop and free jazz. This album was awarded the swedish Manifestprize for Best Jazz Album of 2021as well as a 2nd position in the worlds oldest Jazzmagazine Orkesterjournalens prestigious Gyllene Skiva-voting.
