Madalena Wallenstein began her training in the Gulbenkian Foundation's Education for Arts Movement in the 1970s, focusing on music and theatre. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Education from the Lisbon Music Academy and a postgraduate degree in Art Education from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Porto. Madalena has been working as an art educator since 1987, alternating between contexts of artistic creation, formal and non-formal education, pedagogical interventions for children and adolescents, and teacher and artist training. Her research is based on critical reflection on the links between childhood, artistic creation and the audience, on the experience of transversality between the creative and educational fields, and on exploring the potential of art education as a specific space of the aesthetic dimension. Since 2008 she has been the programmer and coordinator of the CCB (Fábrica das Artes - Para Todos as Infâncias). In this context, she has designed curatorial projects to promote artists and develop audiences.
