The violin duo Mann & Juula (Maria Mänd and Juuli Kõrre) grew up together in Estonia's summer capital, Pärnu. Life led them both down the same path – folk music. Their passion is to play the songs of Estonia's greatest traditional musicians and to help breathe new life into them. Folk music from all over the world has inspired the girls to create their own tunes, giving a darker tone to their repertoire. As well as playing the violin, they sometimes sing. The duo welcomes dancers as well as quiet listeners. So far they've performed a lot and won the award for the best Estonian young folk group of 2020. They won two Etnokulp awards for their 2023 album Pleektatsu: Best Authentic Folk and Best Debut Album. They are now both studying at the University of Gothenburg's Academy of Music and Drama.
