Ludens is a recently formed ensemble of esteemed Estonian musicians characterised by curiosity and unwavering dedication. While the first programmes included compositions for chamber ensembles, Ludens' future performances will range from chamber ensemble to orchestra. While focusing on contemporary music and new works, Ludens also encourages curiosity and imagination, making connections between different historical periods. Upcoming concerts will feature renowned composers such as Ligeti, Stravinsky, and Dallapiccola, as well as contemporary composers Madli Marje Gildemann, Maria Kõrvits and others. In addition, Ludens actively seeks common ground with other art forms, both visually and verbally. True to its name, Ludens ('playing' in Latin) skilfully juggles music, time, media and form. The ensemble's artistic director is conductor Kaspar Mänd. The current members of Ludens are Kaija Lukas (violin), Sandra Klimaite (viola), Theodor Sink (cello) and Kärt Ruubel (piano).
