Action GroupUS
Modular Music on an as-needed basis.
Using modular synths, other hardware, but sans laptops, Action Group builds a set of music that reflects the counties that will be visited on a particular tour. Usually it comes out the other end as a combination of electro, ambient, motorik/kraut, early techno, psychedelic, and classic electronic music influences. No two performances are exactly the same.
Equally at home performing in art spaces or clubs, with DJs or rock bands, they have shared bills with legends like Carl Craig and DJ Stingray, noise merchants such as A Place To Bury Strangers, and electronic acts as diverse as Tycho, Dan Deacon, Rival Consoles, Barker, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Drum and Lace, Junior Boys, and Deantoni Parks, just to name a few.
Action Group is always Alex Maiolo (Themes For Great Cities), usually Nick Williams, and sometimes joined by collaborators, such as Mew's Jonas Bjerre, Lionel Flairs, and Ultrabillions.
