Mörmaid is a Norwegian artist and music producer whose influences include Grimes, Röyksopp, SOPHIE, Burial, Kelly Lee Owens, and Arca. Her music merges the improvisational spirit of jazz with the driving pulse of techno, the allure of ethereal pop, and the daring experimentation of hyperpop, resulting in a hypnotic blend of accessibility and avant-garde innovation. Her debut EP, No Sharp Edges (2020), showcased her evolving artistry, with tracks like “Turn Away” and “G.R.B” receiving acclaim from NRK P3 Urørt. Since then, she has performed at major festivals including by:Larm and Øya. In 2022, she signed with UK-based Beat Palace Records and released the critically praised EP Push Pull, earning features on BBC Radio, NRK P3, and in publications such as Sound on Sound. The haunting music video for her single “Wet Summer” has over 270,000 views on YouTube. Mörmaid’s debut album, Pearlescent Dark (2024), invites listeners on a transformative journey, with each track challenging conventions and delivering moments of unexpected brilliance.
