OmastaPL
The band's name, Omasta, comes from a regional Krakow dialect word meaning "fat added to food for flavour". It's an apt metaphor: their music is rich, saturated with thick drums and deep, heavy bass, all layered beneath the melodic interplay of piano, trumpet, saxophone, and flute.
Formed in Krakow, Omasta officially launched with a tribute to J Dilla in February 2024 at the city's iconic Paul's Boutique. Since then, they've been making waves across Poland and Europe, performing at top venues like The Jazz Cafe and Ronnie Scott's in London, AB in Brussels, and the Gent Jazz Festival. They've shared stages with genre-shaping acts including Slum Village, Aquiles Navarro (Irreversible Entanglements), Tenderlonious, and Polish free jazz legend Leszek Żądło. Their live tributes to hip-hop icons like Madlib have further cemented the band’s reputation, all before releasing a single track. Omasta released their debut album in October 2025 via Astigmatic Records.
