Tallinn Music Week 2024 festival line-up revealed with 165 artists from 35 countries

The international new music festival Tallinn Music Week (TMW) is ready for the 16th edition, which takes place on the 3rd – 7th of April. 165 artists from 35 countries are lined up to play in the capital of Estonia

The TMW 2024 music festival will take place on the 4th – 6th of April across the venues of North Tallinn – from Telliskivi Creative City to the districts of Noblessner, Kalamaja and Kopli. The line-up showcases 165 artists from 35 countries from all over Europe, North and South America, East Asia, Africa, Australia and Oceania. The greatest share – 70 acts – are Estonians, next up is Finland with 20 artists, followed by Canada with 9, Lithuania and Poland each with 7, Germany, Poland and Latvia with 6, and the United Kingdom and Ukraine with 5 performers.

Notable international names include an indie-soul artist Beharie, dubbed as the “Frank Ocean of Norway”; an award-winning artist and activist Madame Gandhi, the former drummer for M.I.A who has been listed as BBC 100 Women; Canadian soul star Tanika Charles; and rising Finnish pop artist Miss Molly as well as seven artists who performed at Europe’s biggest showcase festival ESNS last week, among them Dutch post-punk sensation Tramhaus and Frenc electro-rock duo UTO.

TMW is particularly thrilled to present Estonia’s versatile talent and the current state of its music industry. Among the 70 domestic artists are local favourites like Mari Kalkun, Duo Ruut, NOËP, Rita Ray, Trad.Attack! and Bedless Bones, all making waves also internationally, as well as new names poised to make an impact soon, such as alt-R&B artist maria kallastu and punk renovator Kalli Talompoika. Estonian Choral Association will present Pille-Riin Langeproon’s and Karl Tipp’s author’s concert ”Ode to the Sunset” performed by the chamber choir Avis Animi and Estonian Jazz Union celebrates its 20th anniversary, showcasing acclaimed vocal jazz star Kadri Voorand R&B newcomer Reti Niimann in its line-up.

The global classical and art music network Classical:NEXT joins the TMW curators, showcasing a meticulous programme that includes young Estonian composer Madli Marje Gildemann’s composition “Osmosis” performed by a recently formed ensemble Ludens. Celebrating its new phase at TMW 2025, the global gender equality network Keychange presents a selection from its roster, among them the Estonian electronic dream pop duo Vera Vice and Italian-Nigerian singer-songwriter Anna Bassy. The European capital of culture Oulu2026 showcases their faves from the vast Finnish talent pool, including the critically acclaimed avant-rockers Musta Huone, while their compatriots, dark music festival Blowup joins forces with the Estonian agency Damn.Loud. Making their debut at TMW is also a nomadic platform Yugofuturism that showcases game-changing European acts including  Tramhaus from the Netherlands and Lufthansa from North Macedonia. Presented by JV-Promotion a musical journey will take place between East Asian countries Taiwan and South Korea. Canadian talent is presented by The Women in Music Canada and Mundial Montreal. The Fenno-Ugria night reveals the charm of the musical heritage of Finno-Ugric peoples, Africa NOW! showcase shines a spotlight on the new diversity coming from Africa and its diaspora beyond roots music, and the slickest sounds of the new glocal generation are on display at the Soda POP night. 

TMW 2024 music festival curators include also Viljandi Folk Music Festival, Võnge Festival, Intsikurmu Festival, Üle Heli and Station Narva; Estonian Funk Embassy, Estonian Heavy Music Association and the Estonian Association for Electroacoustic Composers, folktronica group OOPUS as well as beloved venues Uus Laine and Club HALL – the latter of which introduces the new club culture festival unda at TMW.
