Tallinn Music Week (TMW) has revealed its visual identity for the upcoming festival, scheduled to take place in the capital of Estonia from 4th to 8th May. The new branding centres around the idea of a silver lining emerging between contrasting elements.

“TMW unites various genres and identities and sustainable, forward-looking ideas and actions,” says graphic designer Vello Lutter, the author of the new design. “The visual identity of the festival needs to be bold, distinctive and flexible to work across many different platforms and formats. This year’s design is based on abstract forms that mark a dialogue between the diversity of ideas and views in a space that welcomes all. The images in contrasting colour palette connect, and from time to time white ‘area of consensus’ emerges between them as a silver lining — a sign of hope in daily complexity.”

TMW 2022 design elements

TMW 2022 runs from 4th – 8th May. The festival consists of three main programme elements: music festival, Creative Impact Conference and a city festival.

Taking place in Nordic Hotel Forum and Club HALL and on the PRO digi-platform on 6th – 7th May, the TMW conference will focus on better policies, data-based decisions, sophisticated sales, smart touring, regional markets and global networks. Among the topic tracks are also the neuroscience of music, the NFT-s and the Metaverse, all united by the impact of music on social empowerment, diversity and sustainable cities in a year from which the capital of Estonia Tallinn bears the UNESCO City of Music title.

The first wave of revealed TMW panellists includes Simon Raymonde, Owner and Managing Director of Bella Union, which celebrates its 25th anniversary at TMW, the main instigator of the Britpop movement Jane Savidge, as well as the Managing Director of Mute Song David McGinnis.

The full TMW 2022 programme will be revealed gradually from February to April. The music festival line-up will be announced on 1st March.

TMW 2022 passes are on sale at shop.tmw.ee. The PRO Pass, which grants access both to the music festival and the conference, is on sale for 175 euros. The selection of passes also includes Festival Pass and DigiPRO Pass, which provides online access to the conference.
