Taroug is the solo project of drummer and electronic music producer Tarek Zarroug. With roots in the suburbs of the Tunisian desert and a childhood spent in Germany, Taroug’s music seamlessly weaves together diverse elements into a cohesive whole. Pulsating rhythms of organic electronic drums blend with rare and exotic instruments from around the globe, complemented by field recordings, analogue synthesizers, and hypnotic vocals, creating a soundscape that feels both otherworldly and familiar. After releasing his 2020 EP Perpetual and producing notable remixes for artists such as Archive, Taroug has continued to evolve his musical vision. This journey culminated in a collaboration with Denovali Records for the release of his debut album, Darts & Kites, in 2024.
