Africa NOW! night shines a spotlight on the new diversity coming from Africa and its diaspora. Afro-descendants worldwide have broken boundaries, redefined “world music” cliches and ignited some of the most vital sonic trends planetwide – from alté to desert blues and from amapiano to kuduro.
Expect influences from all that jazz, bold black punk and adventurous avant-pop in the search for NOW! sounds and visions of Africa at Fotografiska Tallinn. Different shades of electronic music are presented by Moroccan bass wizard Guedra Guedra, Algerian multi-instrumentalist Must Rousnam and Congo-Uganda supergroup HHY & The Kampala Unit. Scúru Fitchádu from Cape Verde adds slightly darker shades while French-Senegal Poundo pumps up the jam and AfroChill DJs introduce the a rich cross-section of African culture.
