Tallinn Music Week 2026 unveils new visual Identity

The thematic axis of the upcoming Tallinn Music Week’s newly launched visual identity is the dynamism and flexibility of the music community. Created in collaboration between graphic designer Vello Lutter, designer Uku-Kristjan Küttis from AKU agency, and designer Aimur Takk, the new identity plays with these interactions—from surface tension to powerful momentum, from calm breeze to whirlwind.
Every year, TMW has offered not only musical experiences and food for thought but also refreshing visual delight. Over the years, we’ve seen colourful migratory birds, shape-shifting plasticine, collaboration with AI, and punk-inspired DIY aesthetics.
In creating the TMW 2026 design, the designers sought balance between exciting momentum and flexible interaction. Designer Aimur Takk describes the new typography created as part of the design: “A figure-like object has stepped into the letters as a newcomer—like an adventurous member of the music community, ready to dive into highly fluid plasma. These characters can be seen throughout the alphabet searching for their place in different conditions and influences. At one moment, the character is in a calm breeze; at another, as a gentle shimmer; at a third, in a whirlwind—but always flexibly interacting with the environment, whether influenced by momentum, inertia, or surface tension.”

Elements in simultaneously contrasting and harmonious colours derive from the typography, as if dancing with it, creating the illusion of movement like falling rain or flowing energy. Forming ever-new patterns, they reflect the music community’s lively energy and constant movement, with organic abstraction—a freedom that doesn’t overshadow content—showing the way instead of rigid geometry. The end result is a youthful whole, charged with the vibrations of music and urban life.
