Janette KingCA

Janette King is a Caribbean-Canadian alternative R&B artist whose debut LP What We Lost (2021) earned critical acclaim from outlets like Complex and Hypebeast, leading to standout performances at Montreal Jazz Fest, Ottawa Blues Fest, Noise Pop, and opening slots for Cupcakke, Sudan Archives, and Jamila Woods.

In 2023, she co-wrote and performed on two tracks from Gayance's acclaimed album Mascarade, which was shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize, and released the vibrant two-track dance EP How Sad in celebration of Pride Month.

King's highly anticipated sophomore album, Incantation—released October 2024 on Birthday Cake Records (home to Leith Ross and Begonia)—showcases her evolution as a fearless and genre-blurring voice in alternative R&B. She is currently crafting a new project, set for release in 2026, that delves into themes of neural nostalgia—reflecting on memory, emotion, and the way music shapes our sense of the past.
