Marieke Van RansbeeckBE

Marieke Van Ransbeeck is a Belgian bagpipe player and artistic director, recognised for her innovative approach to traditional music. In her solo performance Underlands, she guides the audience on a mystical, underground journey through her multiverse of musette, säckpipa and live electronics. Rooted in the folk traditions of Belgium and Northern Europe, the music moves between composition, improvisation and experimentation.

The performance unfolds as a slow descent through imagined subterranean spaces: from close, intimate chambers shaped by mesmerizing drones, to wider caverns where hypnotic motifs and pulsating beats emerge. Underlands is an immersive and enchanting experience - an invitation to move, to dance, and to surrender to the darkness beneath the earth.
