Alterne is a Danish/Estonian/Belgian dream folk trio that consciously blurs the boundaries between pop, folk, and ambient with modern Danish songwriting. The group features Danish singer Ida Marie Jessen, Belgian violinist Oscar Beerten, and Estonian accordionist Maimu Jõgeda. Their debut album, released in 2024 via GO' Danish Folk Music, has been warmly received internationally. Eric Van Domburg Scipio from Heavenmagazine.nl praised the record: "Jessen's vocals and songs are world-class, especially when combined with the trio's beautiful arrangements. 2024 will not produce much more wonderful folk music." Using violin, Hardanger fiddle, kantele, accordion, and vocals, Alterne creates atmospheric, harmonious soundscapes. They have performed at festivals and venues across Europe, including FolkBaltica (DK/GE), MOPF (DK), Lõikuspidu (EST), Boglárt (HU), Bijloke (BE), KEKRI (FI), and Merode (BE).
