margiiela is one of the most distinctive and bold voices in Estonian alternative rap—an artist who breaks boundaries and skilfully weaves together personal lyrics, a melancholic atmosphere, and heavy 808 beats. In 2021, he became the first Estonian artist to sign a deal with Sony Music before releasing a single solo track. In 2023, he released a collaborative album with Leis titled Eilne hind pole tänane, which solidified his position as one of the key figures in the new school of Estonian rap. This was followed by his deeply personal and conceptual debut album ilus päev surra—a critically acclaimed work that addresses mental health, death, and self-discovery with an honest and sensitive approach. The album's impact was further recognised with nominations at the Estonian Music Awards, where margiiela was nominated for Best Hip-Hop/Rap Artist of the Year, as well as for Music Video of the Year. Now margiiela is focused on finishing his sophomore album, set for release in 2026.
