Sulakuu is one-and-a-half bands in one. In its recording format, members from northern Europe, North America, and Asia contribute. Its live incarnation is headquartered in Tampere, Finland. Sulakuu writes and records music in Finnish, sometimes in Estonian and Karelian, and starting in 2026 in "Segasukukiel", an inter-Finnic language its members have developed and which is understandable for speakers of Finnic languages. Musically, the band describes itself as folk-rock and is eager for audience participation (especially singing). Thematically, the band writes about life, love, mundane matters, understanding and misunderstandings, language, metacommentary on word art, Finland, Estonia, Karelia, North America, funny stories, and sad ballads.
