VeroSE

If their 2022 debut Unsoothing Interior was the tense prelude, Vero's second album Razor Tongue is the full-throttle release. Written in just two months during Stockholm's bleak winter, the record thrives on urgency: no retakes, no second-guessing, just pedal-to-the-floor intensity.

The trio (Julia Boman, Amanda Eddestål, Clara Gyökeres) found their sanctuary in a DIY studio built with a sound engineer friend, bringing in longtime collaborator Mille Hökengren on drums to drive the songs into rougher, rawer territory. The result is wiry alt-rock with punk edges, refrains that detonate, and a haunting lyrical world of obsession, loneliness, and fragile declarations of love. Razor Tongue feels both meticulously crafted and barely held together, like it might collapse or combust at any second. Released via ever-restless indie label PNKSLM, Razor Tongue doesn't sand down Vero's edges: it makes them cut deeper.
