TMW & Big Bang Kids' Festival

The TMW & Big Bang Kids’ Festival offers a surprise-packed musical adventure from basement to attic of the House of the Blackheads in Old Town.

Kids are invited to watch music and dance in silence, chase songs through the building, and discover an orchestra of bedside tables, watering cans and washing machines alongside a truly singular mechanical noise machine.

Programme

12:00 – 12:45 Live performance: Nomads

Paul Griffiths & Lasnamäe Music School students British musician Paul Griffiths will arrive in Tallinn a full week before the festival to create the concert performance ‘Nomad’—a show loaded with jazz, funk and rock—together with young musicians from Lasnamäe Music School.

12:45 – 14:45 Frolic in the Attic

Attic

A concert where a washing machine, a bedside table, a watering can and other household objects come to life. Musician Lauri Lest has assembled an orchestra in the attic, where these curious objects perform music composed especially for them. The lighting rigs, stretching from ceiling to floor, join in too.

13:00 – 13:45 Workshop: I Can See Music

St. Olaf’s Guild Hall

Create your own ‘music painting’ using sheet music, song lyrics, concert tickets, posters and magazine photos. The finished piece is yours to take home!

13:00 – 14:45 Workshop: Find the Song!

House of the Blackheads

Secret codes requiring cracking have been hidden in the nooks and crannies of the House of the Blackheads. Find the song titles concealed in emojis, identify the members of mystery bands, and match the right pairs! A worthy prize awaits all code-breakers at the finish line!

13:00 – 14:45 Workshop: Silent Disco

Courtyard

Under the glow of a disco ball, you can choose exactly the playlist you want through your headphones. The best part? When your companion is grooving to one rhythm while you’re moving to something else entirely — pure freedom, without disturbing a soul.

13:00 – 14:45 Workshop: The World of Mechanical Noise Machines

Basement

Musician Erik Alalooga‘s installation of mechanical electric sound machines will leave you both astonished and wondering how on earth the maker got all these sound machines working together.

12:45 – 14.45 DK Workshop

Small Basement Hall

Iti Teder shares tips and tricks of DJing and invites those interested to try their hand at the decks.

15:00 – 15:45** Live & Talk: Meisterjaan**

White Hall

Gliding between full improvisation and his best-known sonic patterns, Meisterjaan conjures buzzing soundscapes, techno-ish beats, noise and the occasional hint of country—through jaw harp, voice, guitar, looper and live electronics. What tricks and tales he has up his sleeve this time? Come along and find out!
